A Summer Conversation
A podcast conversation about the questions behind SpEx — before a short summer pause
Before SpEx goes quiet for a few weeks, something a little different.
I was recently invited onto the ‘For the Journey’ podcast with Rev. Bill Haley for a conversation about faith, formation, leadership, the Church, and some of the experiences and questions that have shaped my own journey through all of those things.
Much of what we talked about sits behind what I’m trying to explore through SpEx.
Writing forces me to slow down, sharpen an idea and work out what I actually think. Conversation does something different. It allows the connections between ideas, experience, faith and practice to emerge in ways they sometimes don’t on the page.
So, instead of another essay/article this week, I thought I’d share the conversation.

And with that, I’m taking a summer break.
SpEx will be quiet for the rest of August while I take some holiday.
I’ll be back at the beginning of September with more questions, conversations and essays exploring faith, formation, leadership, neuroscience, culture and the strange business of becoming human in Christ, all through the lens of all things Ignatian.
Thank you for reading SpEx, and especially to those of you who have replied, asked questions, shared things, and joined the conversation.
See you in September.
Jason
